Kangaroo Express, Dunkin' Join Coffee Celebration

PrintKangaroo Express, Dunkin' Join Coffee Celebration

CARY, N.C. -- Today, Sept. 29, marks National Coffee Day, but The Pantry's Kangaroo Express chain plans to keep the drink in the spotlight through the rest of this year.

Kangaroo Express customers can purchase reusable Bean Street Coffee mugs, or "Roo Mugs" at the convenience stores for $1.59. The first coffee will be free with a Roo Mug purchase. All subsequent refills are 99 cents through Dec. 31, according to the company.

Customers can also take the coffee celebration one step further by joining the Roo Club. By becoming a member, they will have access to exclusive text message deals, including 49-cent Coffee Wednesdays and Free Coffee Fridays.

Dunkin' Donuts is also celebrating the cup of joe with a Facebook photo contest. Its "Chance for StarDDom" online contest will search for the country's most passionate Dunkin' Donuts coffee fan. The grand-prize winner will have the opportunity to appear in a Dunkin' Donuts ad and receive free Dunkin' Donuts coffee for a year. Ten first-prize winners will also receive coffee for a year.

The contest, which runs through Oct. 20, requires coffee fans to upload a photo of themselves along with a caption describing why they are the biggest Dunkin' Donuts coffee fan to the "Chance for StarDDom" tab on the company's Facebook page. The public can view the entries and cast one vote per day for their favorite contestant from Oct. 21 to Nov. 3. A combination of public voting and Dunkin' Donuts judging will determine the winners.

"As the country's coffee leader, National Coffee Day is an exciting holiday for Dunkin' Donuts to recognize and reward our loyal and passionate guests," said John Costello, chief global marketing and innovation officer at Dunkin' Brands. "Since launching the 'What Are You Drinkin'?' campaign in January 2011, we have seen a tremendous response from our fans telling us how Dunkin' Donuts coffee fits into their daily rituals. The 'Chance for StarDDom' online contest was inspired by our guests, and we can't think of a better way to celebrate their dedication and enthusiasm than by giving the ultimate Dunkin' Donuts coffee fan a chance to appear in one of our upcoming advertisements."
